The College of Pharmacy (pharmacy.osu.edu) in collaboration with the Colleg=
e of Medicine (medicine.osu.edu) at The Ohio State University (OSU) invites=
applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Assoc=
iate Professor level to investigate the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynami=
cs (PK/PD) of novel antimicrobial drug candidates and existing antimicrobia=
l drug regimens. This position involves a joint appointment between the Co=
llege of Pharmacy, with a focus on enabling drug discovery and development,=
and the College of Medicine (Division of Infectious Diseases), with a focu=
s on antimicrobial stewardship. Preferred qualifications: Ph.D., PharmD or=
equivalent, a focus on infectious diseases, experience in determining the =
pharmacokinetics of novel drug candidates and/or optimizing the utilization=
of existing clinical agents, PK/PD modeling, experience working with inter=
disciplinary research teams, and mentoring trainees including members of un=
derrepresented groups. A successful candidate will also demonstrate resear=
ch productivity and evidence of, or potential for, an independently-funded =
research program. This position is one of three hires in an antimicrobial =
discovery and optimization cluster that is part of a university Discovery T=
hemes investment to significantly enhance cutting-edge research on infectio=
us disease detection, treatment and prevention (http://discovery.osu.edu/fo=
cus-areas/infectious-diseases/). This investment builds upon existing stren=
gths and a culture of academic collaboration to foster cross-disciplinary r=
esearch excellence.

The successful candidate is expected to synergize with faculty involved in =
the identification of novel antimicrobial drug targets and therapeutic lead=
s and with experts in the discovery of new antimicrobial agents derived fro=
m chemical synthesis and/or from natural products. Collaboration will be f=

in the study of clinically significant bacterial pathogens including Salmon=
ella typhimurium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Acinetobac=
ter baumanni, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis including a focus on antimicro=
bial resistance amongst these pathogens. With strategic investments throug=
h this antimicrobial discovery and optimization cluster, OSU will be unique=
ly positioned to respond to the White House National Strategy for Combating=
 Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria (https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office=
/2015/01/27/fact-sheet-president-s-2016-budget-proposes-historic-investment=

The College of Pharmacy, College of Medicine, and the University provide a =
generous start-up package, state-of-the-art core facilities and instrumenta=
tion, a collaborative and collegial environment, multiple centers and progr=
ams in infectious disease research (microbiology.osu.edu, medicine.osu.edu/=
mii, cmib.osu.edu, phpid.osu.edu), and interdisciplinary graduate education=
programs. Moreover, Columbus offers diverse cultural and recreational oppo=
rtunities, affordable housing, excellent schools and a variety of career op=
