Dear Colleagues,
Outstanding candidates are sought for postdoctoral positions at DILIsym Ser=
vices Inc., a Simulations Plus company, in Research Triangle Park, NC. The =
successful applicants will be part of an interdisciplinary team of engineer=
s, biochemists, toxicologists, and physicians working on the development an=
d application of the DILIsym(r) software, a computational model of liver fu=
nction in human patients, rodents, and dogs to improve understanding of dru=
g-induced liver injury (DILI). Specifically, the successful candidates wil=
l be tasked with DILIsym software development projects commissioned by the =
DILI-sim Initiative members (www.DILIsym.com), as well as application proje=
cts that involve utilizing DILIsym to solve important problems related to d=
rug-induced liver injury within the pharmaceutical industry. Candidates ma=
y also spend time on the development and use of NAFLDsym, a mathematical so=
ftware representation of Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease used for the eva=
luation of disease treatments. The initial appointment will be for one yea=
r, with the possibility of extension.
Qualifications and Experience
Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in engineering, pha=
rmaceutical sciences, or other life science areas with 0-3 years of postdoc=
toral study experience. They will be proficient in mathematics, have a gen=
eral knowledge of biology, biochemistry, and toxicology, and have experienc=
e with software such as MATLAB. A background knowledge of liver biochemist=
ry and physiology or metabolic diseases is desirable but not required. Exp=
erience and familiarity with computational modeling of biological systems i=
s desirable but not essential.
Qualified candidates need to submit their resume to Bud Nelson, Director of=
 Operations, at bnelson_at_DILIsym.com<mailto:koverman_at_thehamner.org>.
