Job Description:

This position is for a modeling scientist in the area of systems pharmacolo=
gy. The individual will be based in the Department of Translational Informa=
tics, in the Translational Medicine and Early Development organization. The=
 individual will primarily be involved with modeling activities and as appr=
opriate serve as the project team representative. Working with internal and=
 external collaborators will be essential to ensure that modeling meets the=
 strategic needs of the project team. The primary focus will be on modeling=
 efforts which quantitatively integrate pathway biology, physiology and cli=
nical pharmacology, i.e. systems pharmacology.



Responsibilities include:

* Assess and prioritize the modeling needs and contribute to the st=
rategic modeling work plan for a project

* Develop computational systems models working with internal and ex=
ternal collaborators

* Communicate with clarity the results of modeling in presentations=
 to key stakeholders

* Contribute to translational plans and assessments and study condu=
ct


Qualifications:

* Formal Education And Experience Required: PhD with a track record of pr=
oductivity in the areas of systems pharmacology, computational biology or r=
elated field, as manifested in publications and presentations.

* A minimum of 3 years of experience in biomedical research post-ed=
ucation

* Extensive knowledge of biological pathways relevant to disease. S=
uperb skill in communicating both highly technical material as well as the =
distilled take-home messages. Strong commitment to on-the-job-training.

* Modeling and computational experience, Excellent scientific compu=
ting and programming skills in a variety of computational tools such as MAT=
LAB, Monolix, NONMEM, Mathematica, R and excellent working knowledge of Lin=
ux and Windows environments

* Extensive knowledge of biological pathways relevant to disease.

* Superb skill in communicating both highly technical material as w=
ell as the distilled take-home messages.

* Strong commitment to on-the-job-training.

* Modeling and computational experience



Knowledge And Skills Desirable But Not Essential:

* Experience in disease modeling. Expert knowledge in at least one =
area (e.g. immunology, cardiovascular) highly desirable. Experience in drug=
 discovery/development, especially quantitative aspects such as PK-PD, basi=
c experience in Pharmacometrics or Clinical Pharmacology.
