Full Professor Computational Pharmacology

(Tenure Track/Assistant Professor) Computational Pharmacology

The ideal candidates will have strong track records in the field of computa=
tional approaches in drug discovery and development and biomedical research=
. Through their expertise, skills and scientific leadership, they will be a=
ble to bridge between the areas of Systems Pharmacology/PKPD and Systems Bi=
ology, Metabolomics and Big Data. The focus will be on the development of =
multiscale/multivariate models that link pathways to disease and allow for =
in silico drug target identification and validation.
Candidates for the Full Professor role will have a strong international rep=
utation and well-established track record of outstanding, independent scien=
tific and academic leadership, demonstrated by a.o. an extensive portfolio =
of publications, successful grant applications, leadership of large researc=
h projects and programs, invited lectures, committee and board memberships =
etc.
For the Tenure Track/Assistant Professor position, a minimum of 2 year post=
doc experience is required with a commensurate track record of publications=
in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and demonstrable ability to obtain =
research grants. The Tenure Track position consists of an initial period o=
f six years maximum, which it is expected to lead to a promotion to a tenur=
ed position as Associate Professor. After this, it is expected that the can=
didate has progressed such that a promotion to a position as full professor=
can be expected within 3-5 years.
The emphasis of the positions is on research, but it is our philosophy that=
our students get taught by our best researchers. It is therefore expected =
that every member of staff spend *25% of their time on teaching duties. Ev=
idence of teaching abilities and experience is essential for both positions=
.

Leiden University strongly believes that innovation requires a diverse orga=
nisation and workforce. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a b=
rief statement of research plans and contact information for three referenc=
es to:

The Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR<http://lacdr.nl>) is a =
leading institute dedicated to world-class research and education in drug d=
iscovery and development. Our aim is to advance the discovery of the medici=
nes of the future through cutting-edge research and training of bio-pharmac=
eutical scientists.
The LACDR is headed by Piet van der Graaf<http://science.leidenuniv.nl/inde=
x.php/english/staff_info_item/piet_hein_van_der_graaf_appointed_new_directo=
r_of_research_lacdr/>, who joined the centre in 2013 as Director of Researc=
h, Professor of Systems Pharmacology and Chair of the Department of Pharmac=
ology, as successor of Professor Dr. Meindert Danhof. LACDR has organized =
its research and education around three clusters, Drug & Target Discovery, =
Systems Pharmacology and BioTherapeutics.
The focus of the Systems Pharmacology Cluster is the development of novel e=
xperimental and computational tools and concepts for precision medicine. I=
t combines cutting edge experimental facilities and know how in the area of=
metabolomics and organ-on-a-chip with world-leading expertise in Pharmacok=
inetic-Pharmacodynamic (PKPD) and Systems Pharmacology modeling.
