The appointment as Professor in Pharmaceutical Biosciences is placed at the=
 Unit for Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism at the Department of Pharmac=
ology within the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, Sahlgrenska Acad=
emy. The unit consists of one professor, two senior lecturers and PhD stude=
nts. The unit conducts biopharmceutical research, teaching at the undergrad=
uate and advanced level within the dispenser and pharmacy programs and grad=
uate student education. Teaching is carried out in Swedish and English. For=

Apart from the Unit for Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism, the Departmen=
t of Pharmacology hosts a number of research groups working the fields of n=
europharmacology, psychopharmacology and the autonomic nervous system. The =
department conducts excessive teaching not only within the dispenser and ph=
armacy programs but also, e.g., within the programme in medicine.

The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology at the Sahlgrenska Academy, Un=
iversity of Gothenburg also carries out preclinical and clinical research i=
n neuroscience, rehabilitation, neurophysiology, endocrine physiology and c=
irculatory physiology.

Specific subject description

Pharmaceutical Biosciences includes research that will benefit the developm=
ent of new pharmacotherapies or better use of existing drugs with respect t=
o efficacy and safety. The subject fits for example pharmacometrics, patien=
t-oriented pharmacy, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and drug absorption=
.

Job assignments

We are now recruiting a professor in Pharmaceutical Biosciences. Duties inc=
lude scientific activities, such as research, research training and generat=
ion of external funding as well as teaching and examination at basic and ad=
vanced levels, supervision of master's dissertations, course development, a=
nd course management within the dispenser and pharmacy programs.

Eligibility

The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3=
 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.

Documented scientific and educational skill will be required.

Assessment

Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are=
 given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.

The primary selection criterion is scientific skill and experience. The sec=
ond selection criterion is educational skill and experience. The third sele=
ction criterion is administrative skills. Pharmaceutical undergraduate degr=
ee will be seen as meritorious since the teaching primarily will take place=
 within the dispenser and pharmacy programs. Ability to generate external f=
unding will also be regarded as an important merit. The documented ability =
to cooperate will be considered as well.

Applicants lacking adequate education with respect to teaching in higher ed=
ucation may be asked to complete an educational training programme within t=
he first year of employment.
